  Absolute first class institution of learning, populated with knowledgeable, inspiring teachers and super nice people to boot. Seriously, have spent over 20 years flirting with music production and never got very far, whereas in less that 6 months I finally feel like I'm making proper progress. Have done the Creator course and now onto the Mixdown course and couldn't recommend Simon, Rob and the team enough.

  Recently completed weekend Creator Course and would definitely recommend! Simon is a great teacher and creates a welcoming and friendly environment I felt comfortable sharing questions and ideas in.

  Just completed the Live: Creator weekend course and I can't recommend it enough. Simon is excellent, clearly has a massive amount of knowledge and paces the course perfectly so that you're pushed the whole time but never feel rushed.
  
  He creates a space where you want to share your ideas and getting feedback from everyone is really useful. So much fun, can't wait for the next one.

  Like others on the reviews here,i am a guy that has been plugging away for countless years trying to just land a couple of real decent dj gigs,(without any real success)despite my various radio slots.
  So the production side i always just left alone for the pc geniuses out there,which i will never be.However after surviving heart surgery just before lockdown!I made a vow to push my limited skillset and join the creator course at Subsine academy.
  Firstly want to say and i know i am not alone here that Simon is not only so knowledgeable in all he does,he has such an amazing way of teaching with all in the classes that i think of him as a mate,as well as a bloody amazing teacher.
  Now due to a whole load of personal challenges for me that i will not list,but losing jobs is a start!!!With Simon to guide,assist and help me i managed to get my first track,"Somnium" not only finished,but signed to a label i have always loved,Manual recordings👍.
  And it now appears on the "Manualism XVII" compilation and is doing well out there by all accounts.Without Simon,and the Subsine Academy that feeling of getting my work out there would never have happened.
  It is my personal goal to try in between my long working hours to get onto more tracks ,and in the end hopefully get more and more at ease with Ableton as it is a very powerful bit of software
  I can truly say to everyone though,you will love being at Subsine,you will learn and you will make music,new friends,and progress.The speed you progress is entirely your thing,no one judges,and you will be inspired.
  I cannot thank Simon enough👏,i am only a little gutted i missed the Harvey McKay session😭but i will certainly be back at some point.
  I totally advise anyone on the edge of joining up,but maybe a little nervous...do not hesitate.get your name down and you will love the journey.🙌I know i did.

  Simon is a pleasure to work with and the way in which he teaches will ensure your competence in producing increases very quickly. The course I was recently on everyone on the course has made tracks almost ready to be released on labels within the space of 10 sessions. Will definitely be back for the next level course.

  I have just completed the Creator course and am delighted! Been mucking about with Abelton for over a year and this has hyper warped my creations to another level.   I recently completed the Creator Course and it was excellent. Simon explains the many aspects of Ableton clearly and I loved the fact he was there to provide detailed answers to questions that would usually take time trawling the internet for forums or videos that might provide an answer. Highly recommended!

  Having spent countless hours watching YouTube tutorials and attempting to make things in Ableton to no fruition, the Creator course helped me produce a decent track from start to finish.
  
  I've learnt a lot more than I expected over 10 weeks, and truly felt part of the community. Simon is an exceptional tutor - really supportive and knowledgeable. The quality of service and learning you get for that price is an absolute bargain.

  As someone starting from a low knowledge base Simon was able to take us through the fundamentals of Ableton with great skill and warmth. I think I would have spent ages looking at YouTube tutorials and wasted a lot of time.
  
  Simon's approach is to build your skills from the ground up. Also really enjoyable to be in a class with others. Simon is a great teacher who imparts his love of music through his course.
  
  If you want to learn Ableton this is the place to go.

  If you're looking at any of the courses then go for it, you won't regret it. I have just finished the Ableton live-Creator course and I highly recommend it. As much as everyone would like to think they can teach themselves how to do everything online nowadays it will never be like the classes you will go to here. It's so worth the money and your time.
  
  Simon is a very knowledgeable teacher who obviously has many years of experience. He will teach you everything step by step in the right order where it's not confusing or hard to understand at all. He will also give you many notes at the end of each class based on that session that you can always refer to.
  
  To top that off you can also access the online courses for reference if you get stuck. It's the whole package really. It was the best class I have ever been to and Simon is the best teacher I have ever had.

  I can't speak highly enough of the tutor, Simon Stokes, who clearly knows the ins and outs of Ableton. More importantly, he is a truly excellent teacher who understands what it's like to be a beginner faced with very complex DAW software.
  
  A lot of work was done in the classes which, nevertheless, were relaxed and fun and I, for one, am amazed by how much I've learnt and how much pleasure I'm getting out of producing electronic music.

  I started Soma Skool about 3 weeks ago and already have learned a lot from Simon. It is a beginners course for making electronic music and each week we are taken step by step on how to make our own music from scratch, this is good as the music you make is your own and is it original.
  
  I like how Simon teaches its not a strict working environment he has good banter along the way and makes you feel at ease so you don't hesitate to ask any questions if there is something you don't understand. I also like that we get course notes away with us every week as it means you don't need to spend the class taking a load of notes you can tune in to what he is doing and when you go home you have the notes to refer back to.
  
  I have only had 3 sessions so far and already have learned so much so I am looking forward to the remaining 6 sessions to see what Simon has in store for us 🙂

  Couldn’t recommend subSine Academy and Simon enough, I went in with a decent amount of knowledge of audio editing/mixing but always struggled to produce music of my own.
  
  The Creator course filled in all the blanks and left me confident enough to put the work in and start making music!

  Without a doubt the best production course I have came across. Very good theory taught and practical every week. Continuous improvement and checkups throughout by the legend Simon Stokes. First class musician and producer, lots to learn from him and I can now safely say that after 9 weeks I am 1000x better than I was before. This course should be double the price to be honest!

  Just finished the excellent evening Introducer course. I’d been meaning to enrol for a while, but kept wanting to finish various free online courses first, got distracted, back to square one, repeat. If you’ve been putting it off too, just do it, you won’t regret it. I only wish I’d done it sooner, learned more in the first week of this course than I did in two years.
  
  About the course itself, I loved everything about it. Simon is a brilliant teacher, incredibly knowledgeable and easy going with a really engaging teaching style. The class environment was also great to learn in, enjoyed being able to share my progress with like-minded people each week. Was a good laugh too!
  
  I have left this course genuinely inspired and now hooked on music production (and subsequently signed up to the Producer course).

  I can not recommend this course highly enough. The course I did (Ableton Live: Creator) was expertly structured, with thorough notes provided for every week, and delivered by Simon brilliantly.
  
  It was so enjoyable and rewarding at the same time,as the knowledge being passed on was second to none.
  
  Anyone looking to get going with Ableton doesn’t need to look anywhere else. 10/10

  I have attempted to make music for over 15 years, using a variety of hardware and software. I have used Ableton on and off for the last 10 years but decided to move things up a notch and get some professional, guidance to support my learning and development. I have completed the introducer course and learned lots of things I have being doing wrong or could have been doing a lot more efficiently. Simon is a fantastic teacher and I have left with more confidence and feel motivated to eventually see what I can achieve with hard work and focus.
  
  I have already signed up for the next course and would highly recommend this for anyone seriously interested in making electronic music.

  Just recently finished the Live Introducer course with Simon and loved it.
  
  Simon is a great guy and teacher who will make what ever time he can available to get you making your own tunes over the lessons. Always understanding to work commitments and never felt like there was too much information for me to handle. When having struggled with YouTube videos for years finally found a night course that didn't disappoint and now know my way around Ableton. Plenty of notes to look back on if i need to and having the Facebook page to get on to other students and Simon is a great add on. Harvey McKay came in for a lesson too and really opened my eyes to how flexible and how many different ways there are to use Live again all explained to a level I could understand.
  
  I can't thank Simon enough for getting me inspired and I will be attending another block of lessons in the future.

  This is THE place go and learn about Ableton Live, and electronic music production in general.
  
  I went in knowing noting about Ableton and within weeks I had full tunes, had the confidence to play a gig, and even managed to use it to DIY record my more rock style project too!!!!
  
  Simon explains even the most complex things in easy to understand ways, and is really supportive, friendly, and a great teacher. If only all tutors were like him ha ha!
  
  My advice is if you want to do this course, dont be like me, spending a year deciding if I should go for it - just do it!!! For me, it was worth every single penny 😀

  You will not be disappointed if you attend Simon's course! All the Ableton beginner lessons were supplemented with step by step support instructions for reference at a later date if required.
  
  Simon is passionate about what he does and understands what your influences are then helps to shape the sound you're trying to create. He is very encouraging and gives you loads of tips on how to develop your music to keep the listener interested.

  I started the Creator course off with no real teaching experience on DAW's other than the occasional youtube video and playing around with it myself. The best thing I found for me from the course was getting information in the order you should be learning it. Online 'How to' videos are great but they seldom offer any real constructive progression, this is where I found this course excelled giving me the right knowledge in the correct order I needed to learn it.
  
  Simon is a fantastic teacher and great guy, can honestly say there wasn't a single minute of the course where I felt bored and any problems myself or the rest of the class had he helped to solve quickly and easily. His vast knowledge of the program shows and with someone who has many releases and is a Ableton Certified trainer your definitely going to be learning from someone who knows how to use the program to its full potential.
  
  Highly recommend it to anyone interested in becoming confident in the use of Ableton Live or furthering there skills on the Producers course.

  This course has changed my life..after watching hours and hours of tutorials on YouTube and getting nowhere...the Creator course is broken down into 10 weeks with all the basics and make it 100 times easier.
  
  One year later and i have started working with Digital Groove records and played two nights in space Ibiza at Carl Cox's music in revolution with more releases due out next year..total dream come true. Big thanks to Simon Stokes who is not only one of the best producers out there he is also a great teacher with his productions tips and teaching skills.

  My time at Soma Skool has been majorly productive and a lot of fun. Simon has a real knack for simplifying whatever he teaches as well as creating an enjoyable atmosphere throughout. I have traveled far afield for similar courses but Soma Skool definitely ticks all the boxes and is right on my doorstep.   Literally couldnt recommend Soma Skool any higher. I done the Ableton Live: Creator course, I was a complete novice to music production/using a DAW. I've procrastinated for a long time about making music and figured this course might be the kick into gear I needed. I now have a seriously comprehensive understanding of the software and in the space of 8 weeks, myself and the rest of the class were already putting down full tracks. It's all down to Simon Stokes.
  
  Simon is a wonderful teacher, he's been involved in the electronic music scene for many years. He's an accomplished DJ/Live Act/Producer and Mastering engineer. He has worked with some gigantic names in the scene, Is at the forefront of Soma Records and has toured around the world. He is certified from Ableton headquarters itself in Germany. Having someone so passionate with such vast wealth of experience, who happens to be completely down to earth is invaluable for this sort of thing, where feedback is extremely important. You will instantly feel at ease in Simons class, and you'll rapidly see progress from the first lesson, It will quickly become the highlight of your week.
  
  If you are serious about starting to produce, or already do but want an understanding of Ableton then this course is the perfect way to get the ball rolling. I've already decided to take the next step and do his Advanced course. Outstanding value for money, Get it done! Enjoy

  Ableton's built-in tutorials weren't doing it for me at all but I was really keen to get my head round it and figured it would be money well spent if the Soma Skool Introducer course gave me the skills and knowledge to start having some fun with it. After completing the course I would be happy to recommend it to anyone looking to get started with Ableton, or anyone who can use it but wants to learn a few tricks and maybe gain some more in-depth musical knowledge at the same time. The classroom itself is a cool setting, the course is well structured and it certainly wasn't just me that seemed to be picking things up really quickly.
  
  Simon Stokes is a great teacher - knowledgeable, enthusiastic and down to earth. He must know everything there is to know about Ableton; questions were getting fired at him think and fast most of the time and I don't think anybody caught him out once! It was great to learn from someone who is well respected in the scene and is happy to pass on his skills and knowledge, not just about Ableton but about DJing, promoting and other aspects of the scene, which he was only too happy to do.
  
  Lastly, it was great to meet some like-minded people too and if my objective at the outset was to learn more about Ableton, the fact the whole experience was great fun made it even better and money extremely well spent. If you are thinking about it just do it!

  I can't recommend subsine highly enough. I'm also studying the beginners electronic music production course and I'm really enjoying it.
  
  The course is extremely well put together and it's a great environment to learn in, with no pressure, and the opportunity to ask questions with no fear if you're unsure of something. The course notes put together are extremely in depth, and give you the confidence to crack on at home.
  
  Simon as a tutor is also very easy going and knowledgeable, and puts the whole class at ease and is always keen to learn a hand in practical time and shows interest in everyone's project.

  Just finished (graduated i would say) my beginners 8 week course from Ableton, taught by Simon Stokes. The course is well laid out as are the course notes. Simon takes you further and further into music production week by week and is always very understanding and helpful when you become stuck or have problems. His knowledge of electronic music and Ableton shines through but his attitude to teaching doesn't make it daunting for beginners to ask questions or pick his brain.
  
  The studios has very good facilities and the learning room is ideal for this course. Course notes are handed out each week but the class isn't about reading, it's about learning with the notes to aid you when you go home.
  
  All in all I would recommend this course to anyone interested in making electronic dance music and wondering where to start.

  Coming from a DJ background i had a very basic understanding of music production. Working with Simon on the course has totally changed this, I can now make tracks from scratch using a whole variation of techniques and ways to get the sound i want
  
  The learning environment, is very relaxed, easy to digest and most importantly very enjoyable which makes a huge difference.
